
The Town
The town of Arzachena stands on a granite hill and is the administrative center of the Costa Smeralda. Its ancient origin is shown in the historic center, the which incorporates the traditional architecture of Gallura, around the square called Piazza Risorgimento.
Santa Maria Maggiore or "The old Church"
Located in the center of the town, It's close to Piazza Risorgimento. Its structure dates back to 1716 and It's built in granite according to the traditional architecture of Gallura. Inside there is a wooden altar and a carving that portrays the Virgin and Child, dated back to 1776.
Santa Maria della Neve Church
called "The new Church"
Its recent construction is dated back to 1993. Its imposing size is made with reinforced concrete and covered with granite blocks.
Santa Lucia Church
It was built on the top of the hill overlooking the town. It's one of the best panoramic point.
Nuraghe Albucciu and Tomba Moru
Albucciu is a Nuragic site in excellent state of preservation. It's dates back to 1500 years B.C., probably, used as a fortress. It's situated in a astrategic point, with ample view of the sourrounding. Can be visited inside. Near the Nuraghe, there is the Tomba Moru, a nuragic funerary construction. Ticket is required and you can ask for multilingual guide.
Nuragic Temple of "Malchittu"
The temple, dates back between 16th and 14th century B.C., during the Medium Bronze Age. Probably, It was the centre of a sacred area used as reference point for the Nuragic tribes of the region. It's situated in a arduous area, 1.5 km walking from the road.
Ticket is required and multilingual guided tours must be booked in advance.
Nuragic Village of "La Prisjona"
It's a maiestic Nuragic Complex, dated back around 1300 years B. C. The preistoric fortress, the main Nuraghe is surrounded by the village of circular huts, that still well visible. In this site have been found lot of remains of ancient daily life. It's in excellent state of preservation. Ticket is required. Guided tours is reccommanded, to better understand the fascinating way of life of this ancient civilization.
The Nuragic Giants Grave of "Coddu Vecchju"
That's the best preserved grave of the area. It's a funerary monument, used for long time for ancient sacred celebrations with votive offerings. It's dated back around 1800-1600 B.C. Ticket is required and you can ask for multilingual guide.
Curiosity
Arzachena is one of the largest producers of the popular Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, a fine white wine of the Northern Sardinia.
The Nuragic Giants Grave of "Li Lolghi"
This funerary monument, preserve intact his mysterious charm and magnificent, showing peculiar building characteristics. It was used for burial rituals. It's dated back around 1800-1600 years B.C. Ticket is required and you can ask for multilingual guide.
The Necropolis of "Li Muri"
It's a very ancient necropolis, dated back 4200 years B.C., during the period called Middle Neolithic. In this site have been found precious lityc objects that were grave goods.

Arzachena Points of Interest
Monumental Rock of "Il Fungo"
It's a majestic granitic complex look like an huge mushroom, inhabited and frequented since prehistoric times. It's a nice panoramic point, overlooking the town and the surrounding countryside.
Granitic Complex of "Li Conchi"
It's a suggestive granitic complex formed by caves, inhabited since preistoric time, used us shelter during WWII. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, It's populated by wild animals, including wild boar, lizards and turtles.
Curiosity
Someone believe that the giants' grave were built in places where it is given off a strong energy from the heart. It is used to spend a lot of time lying on granite's slabs to cure some diseases, as rheumatism.

Museum of Bread "La Caseddha di Lu Furru"
The Museum of Bread was created to show the techniques ,utensils and breadth of types of traditional bread. In ancient times , that was an art linked with the traditions and culture of Gallura. It is located in Via Tenente Sanna, 07021 Arzachena.

Museo Laboratorio dell'Età Nuragica -Labenur-
Labenur Museum offers to visitors the experience of ancient daily life of Nuragica Civilization . After visiting the archaeological sites which show the remains of ancient civilizations present only in Sardinia , you can admire the reproduction of costumes and utensils or participate in workshops , for learn the processing of raw materials such as clay and ceramics.
